Gecko’s on SR 70 Reopening in Restaurant News

Jun 10, 2020

Gecko’s Hospitality Group is all in again
All 11 of Gecko’s Hospitality Group’s restaurants and bars across Sarasota and Manatee counties are all now open.
“With Gov. DeSantis’ announcement of Phase 2 guidelines, the only remaining closed Gecko’s Grill & Pub on S.R. 70 has reopened as has the legendary tavern, Red Barn Bar,” Gecko’s spokesperson Anne K. Rollings said in an email.
“Being that the S.R. 70 Gecko’s is a more intimate space, this location, unlike its five siblings, had spatial challenges to adapt to social distancing. With some robust renovation and dining room redesign, including Plexiglas partitions separating booths, sanitation stations installed and other enhanced safety and sanitation protocols in place, Gecko’s on SR 70 reopened on June 5 at 4 p.m., just in time for Gecko’s’ award-winning happy hours. Red Barn Bar opened first thing Friday (June 5) morning in keeping with their tradition of sharing a nightcap with ER staff just getting off work on the night shift.”
Rollings said they were “inspired by the resolve of the owners Mike Gowan and Mike Quillen to protect jobs, serve healthcare workers and first responders and our community.”
“GHG teams linked arms with several community efforts over the past two months to sustain our local heroes on the front lines, our fellow industry workers and loyal GHG To Go guests,” Rollings said. “GHG is thrilled to welcome guests back into the restaurants and teams are slowly being restored to their positions. As the owners like to say, ‘Our teams are our heroes and our guests are our bosses.’”
