Gecko’s Grill & Pub has several Sarasota locations and in recent years its owners — Mike Quillen and Mike Gowan, both locals — have opened S’macks Burgers & Shakes, while acquiring Red Barn Bar, Dockside Waterfront Grill in Venice, and Dry Dock Waterfront Grill on Longboat Key. It all started, though, in 1992 with the Gecko’s Landings location, where Quillen and Gowan will be hosting a silver anniversary party and fundraiser for the Sarasota County 4H Clubs featuring a smoked barbecue meal with “all the fixin’s” and commemorative T-shirt (while supplies last) with suggested $15 donation. There will be a DJ, games, raffle prizes and chance to win beer for a year at a Gecko’s of your choice. 5 p.m. Friday, Gecko’s Grill & Pub, 4870 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
