Restaurant Industry Leads through Participation in “Dine Out for No Kid Hungry” during September
Sarasota, FL; August 28, 2014 // – Gecko’s Grill & Pub and S’macks Burgers & Shakes is partnering with Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, a national fundraising event that brings together thousands of restaurants and millions of consumers every September to help raise funds for and awareness of the No Kid Hungry campaign.
No Kid Hungry works to shine a national spotlight on the crisis of childhood hunger in America. Every year, the restaurant industry unites in an extraordinary showing of solidarity and encourages our guests to “Do Good; Dine Out” as an active participant in a campaign to educate, nourish and feed American children. No Kid Hungry envisions an end to childhood hunger, with restaurants, suppliers, media and trade associations all sharing their strengths. At Gecko’s and S’macks, a guest may make a donation and then pin their customized donor card to the No Kid Hungry Wall of Fame in any of our restaurants.
Gecko’s Grill & Pub has a long history of serving as Business Partners with dozens of schools in Sarasota and Manatee County, providing Super Student Free Meals to tens of thousands of elementary students and supporting untold numbers of teams, projects, fundraisers and events in area schools, philanthropies, and charitable groups. Gecko’s was awarded the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s prestigious Florida Restaurant Neighbor award for the past two years. This honor recognizes outstanding restaurants around the country that go above and beyond in community service, and aims to inspire other restaurateurs to get or stay involved in their local communities.
Gecko’s Grill & Pub has been locally owned and operated by Michael Quillen and Mike Gowan since 1992, and employs over 375 Floridians. Their newest venture, S’macks Burgers & Shakes, introduced Managing Partner, Alex Floethe in Summer, 2013. Over their 22 year run, Gecko’s Grill & Pubs have created steady economic stimulus, generating jobs for thousands of employees.
